The current approach to diabetes focuses on treating the symptoms of the disease rather than the causes.
In the traditional medical model, all of our attention is on treatments that lower blood sugar (diabetes drugs and insulin), lower high blood pressure (anti-hypertensive drugs), improve cholesterol (statins) and thin the blood (aspirin). Doctors very seldom partner with their patients to get to the root cause of the problem, or provide the tools the patient needs to transform their health.
